The Future of Worship?

"We were blown away at how people could actually worship along [online]," says Craig Groeschel, senior pastor at LifeChurch.tv. "The whole family will gather around the computer, and they'll sing and they'll worship together. Instead of trying to get people to come to a church, we feel like we can take a church to them."
...critics are particularly distressed by the online offering of traditional sacraments, such as Communion and baptism. He believes it is "ridiculous" that someone can grab grape juice and a cracker from the fridge and watch a computer screen, thinking they are truly participating in a gathering of the faithful.

I think it's interesting that CNN would use a photo of an Orthodox Liturgy in a story that describes a style of worship that is as far from Orthodox as possible.

I agree. I didn't understand the choice of picture. I am sorry for people who believe that a "virtual" church experience can replace being with other believers worshipping together around the Presence of Christ. They miss the point.

Won't it be a wonderful day in Evangeland when protestant scientists learn how to beam "worship" services directly into their dreams. It'll save them so much wasted time.

As far as the photo of an Orthodox liturgy being used with this story, maybe that's because it's becoming increasingly hard to find heterodox worship that doesn't look like a variety show or a rock concert.
